I rolled off Keith's couch at 11:00am or so and spent most the late morning and early afternoon catching up on more email, watching TV, and recovering from slight Anheuser-Busch induced headache. Keith got home around 3:30pm and after cleaning up we headed into downtown Chicago for the evening. We started drinking, got some food, and played a bunch of pool at the Rockbottom brewery and restaurant. A bit later we wandered over to the Chicago Jazz Club on Hubbard St. and listened to a couple hours of acoustic blues by a local blues band. It was fairly good, though not especially energized or really ripping. Just clean white boy blues. We ended up scoping the club scene in central northern downtown Chicago. We started at the Bar Chicago. A real meat market dive of The Royal proportion (The Royal is the Bellingham meat market club) with the addition of numerous women dancing on top of the bar and in a centrally located cage. They even had a midget bartender getting funky in the cage with the girls... I guess that made it better. After enduring a $6 cover charge, a couple $4 Miller Lites, and waaaay too loud euro-techno, Keith and I threw in the towel and headed to the north side to hang out at one of the cool irish pubs up there. Again, I didn't get to sleep until 4:30am. At least tonight I ended up with a Black and Tan pounding in my head rather than a sub-par Anheuser-Busch product.
