I took my time leaving Republic and finally got out of town around 11:00am sometime. I road south on highway 21 to some little gray road that took me west to just north of Grand Coulee Dam. Highway 21 winds its way through a nice green valley along side of a small river. The gray road that I rode west on went through a couple different cattle free range areas and was really twisty but the surface was a bit sandy and not terribly inspiring. It was fine, but the best part was the last 5 miles heading down towards the Columbia River and Grand Coulee. The Grand Coulee area is made up of something like 3 or 4 small towns, Coulee Dam, Grand Coulee, Electric City, and some other one. I was a little bummed that I couldn't drive across the dam, but oh well, the views from the different overlook areas were pretty good too. I rode southeast from Coulee Dam on highway 155 to highway 2 which eventually ends up in Wenatchee. There were good sections of twisties, nice scenery, and cool little towns, but in general the stretch was mostly farmland and orchards on a raised rolling landscape. When 2 drops down into the Columbia River Valley north of Wenatchee I got my fill of nice sweepers before ending my day in Wenatchee. I rode into Wenatchee on highway 97/highway 2 and searched around for my friend Kelvin's parents house. My friends Beau and Tyson were riding across the cascades today and we were all going to meet up there, have dinner, and plan our weekend ride around eastern washington. Beau, Kelvin, and I caught up on times and indulged in a tasty mexican supper. Wenatchee seems to have a lot of good mexican food due to its large migrant worker hispanic populous that work all the orchards surrounding the city. Tyson eventually showed up at 10:00pm or so, as he had a long ride from Port Angeles, Washington on the Olympic Peninsula and couldn't leave until after 5:00pm, and we mixed up some killer margaritas, B.S.'ed, and ended up starting a movie at 12:30pm.
