Tyson and I rode out to Port Angeles at 11:00am or so. The morning was quite overcast and we hoped for the sky to clear for a nice sunny day of riding on the peninsula. It was our lucky day and as soon as we hit Sequim just east of Port Angeles the clouds parted and we were bathed in wonderful Washington summer sun. We had a good lunch at a mexican restaurant in town and then dropped our sleeping bags and whatnot off at Tyson's apartment. We then road just south of town and climbed Hurrican Ridge. It was $5 for a 5 day pass to the park, but was well worth it. The road has to be one of the best in Washington and is blessed with some of the best scenery as well. It was just about as close to riding in the swiss alps as is possible without actually being there. Tyson and I hung out at the top of the ridge for a bit and took a bunch of photos and enjoyed the view. Then we rode back down and went west on highway 112 towards Clallam Bay. Another absolutely awesome road blessed with a perfect surface and really great squiggles. We cut the day a little short and didn't make it all the way out to Neah Bay as I had planned, as we were both really pretty much shot to hell tired from our weekend ride around eastern washington. Back at Tyson's, we both crashed for the night.
Total Mileage for Day: 254 |
